What is Community Solar?

Community Solar is a new way to receive some of the financial benefits of rooftop solar. The main difference is instead of paying to place expensive panels on your own roof, a group of households get together to support a centralized solar farm and, it’s available to renters and homeowners who can’t get, or don’t want, rooftop solar for a number of reasons.

How it Works

step 1

Your solar farm generates electricity

Electricity from your solar farm goes directly into your regional utility grid. You pay a monthly Community Solar subscription to CleanChoice based on how much energy is produced by your share of the solar farm.

step 2

You receive credits on your utility bill

The energy produced from your share of the Community Solar farm will appear as "bill credits" on your utility bill, reducing your total electricity bill.

step 3

Enjoy your savings and a cleaner world

The difference between what you pay for your Community Solar subscription and the value of the bill credits on your utility bill may result in savings - and a better, cleaner world.
